SERVPRO of Santa Clara - Here to Help with the Big & Small Steps

Prepare your Property for an Emergency

We have supported countless home and business owners and property managers across Santa Clara County with water, fire, mold and storm property damages. One thing we have learned: Emergencies happen every day. We understand that your lives are busy, it can be overwhelming to add being prepared in case of an Emergency to your list, and getting started is often the hardest part. We also know that being prepared can make a huge difference when faced with a disaster situation and can help get your life and operations back to normal more quickly afterwards.

HOW SERVPRO CAN HELP BEFORE, DURING & AFTER A DISASTER?

The SERVPRO® Emergency READY Profile® will help ensure you and your business is "Ready for whatever happens." in the event of an emergency. Our ERP is a comprehensive document containing critical information about your business and building, including emergency contact information, shut-off locations and priority areas to help minimize the damage and interruption to your business operations, with an immediate plan of action.

Preparation is a key component for making it through any size disaster, whether it's a small water leak, a large fire, or a hazardous flood. The best time to plan for any event is not when the water or flames are interrupting your routine, but well before it happens. The SERVPRO® Emergency READY Profile® serves as a quick reference of important building and contact information or can be an ideal supplement to any existing well-designed emergency preparedness plan or contingency program. Rather than reacting to a disaster situation, it's far more beneficial to take proactive measures to establish a plan and relationship with a trusted leader in the restoration service industry.

PREPAREDNESS PLANNING FOR YOUR BUSINESS

Identify Potential Problems

Are floods frequent in your area? Identify which natural disasters are most common in your area and determine your business's risk factor. Start by preparing for the most imminent threat first. Also consider things like power-outages and smaller emergencies like plumbing issues or vandalism.

Develop & Practice An Emergency Response Plan
What if a fire started in your facility kitchen? An emergency response plan is what your business will implement in the event of a man-made or natural disaster. The plan should include how you will protect your employees and customers, manage business operations, and communicate during and after the disaster. Practice this plan. How easy is it to exit your office building on foot? How long does it take to reach the designated meeting place? Who will help customers or employees who need mobility assistance?

Make A Crisis Communications Plan
The crisis communications plan is how you will keep in contact with employees and customers. Your plan helps your business respond promptly and accurately during and after the disaster. Determine in advance who will be the spokesperson for a specific audience.

Create A Business Continuity Plan
How will your business continue to operate in the event of a disaster? Can you continue to receive orders online; is your customer data available off-site? A continuity plan includes how to manage communication with customers and suppliers, how to fulfill orders and service contracts, and how to recover lost company data.

Talk To Your Insurance Agent
Business insurance may help protect your company from substantial losses in the event of a covered claim. Beyond property coverage, you might also consider business interruption coverage, which may help reimburse you if you're temporarily unable to do business after a covered loss. Each business's needs will vary, depending on the type of business and the risk associated with your area.

Our specialized equipment and highly trained professional staff has the scope of services to handle your property restoration needs. We understand you may not have all the answers - this maybe the first traumatic experience with your residential or commercial property. Calling our team connects you to a professional staff that can provide the answers to your restoration concerns and tailor a solution to restore your home or business.

Tips in Keeping Your Property Safe during Your Super Bowl Get-Together

1/31/2020 (Permalink)

SERVPRO is ready to blitz to your property 24/7!

Being one of the largest food consumption days in the United States with households hosting friends and family to watch the “big game”, Super Bowl Sunday can bring unanticipated dangers to your property. Below are some suggested steps to help avoid property damage and keep the focus on having fun!

Dangers in the Kitchen:

Biggest rule in the kitchen – DON’T GET DISTRACTED. Ensure the safety of your guests, your property, and yourself by keeping an eye on your oven and stove top. Do not leave your oven unattended while cooking, set timers to avoid burning food, never discard hot grease in a trash can, clean up splattered grease and oil immediately, and keep cooking surfaces clear of flammable items.

Congested Circuits:

Maxing out your power sources by overloading electrical outlets and using excessive extension cords creates not only tripping hazards but is also a leading cause of electrical fires. When a circuit tries to draw more electricity than it is designed to handle, the systems can overheat resulting in a high risk of fire. Remember to keep circuit usage within appropriate limits of the circuit load. Space out plug-in devices or appliances, unplug anything that does not need to be used, be aware of any warning signs of an overloaded circuit (diming lights, bussing outlets, burning odors, etc.)

Plumbing Dilemmas:

Complications with clogged drains can be a nightmare with a full house. With the potential of water damage ruining the fun, it’s best to check pipes for leaks, keep food and grease away from kitchen drains and be cautious of what is flushed down toilets.

SIT BACK AND ENJOY THE GAME!

Now that you have a plan in place to keep problems at bay, it’s time to relax while cheering on your favorite NFL team and kicking back with friends and family!

If a disaster does occur – remember SERVPRO of Santa Clara is here to help 24/7. Call our highly trained team for assistance (408) 392-9700.
